Teacher,
No, I am a Cleveland native living in NYC, watching my team be dismantled by the minute. I do, however, follow the Yankees very closely, and know that they will always try to win at all costs, unlike the Tribe, who are running a halfway house for washed up players and over-hyped prospects.

Naturally, your post, as usual, neglects the facts. You said at all costs. Well so far, they haven't come close to losing a dime. So I think your statement is a little misleading.
Last year the Indians turned a profit, of 11 million dollars, however they then had to shell out 13 million for revenue sharing and ended up losing money.
The Yankees on the other hand, never came close to losing money. If you think Steinbrenner would ever willingly lose money to make his team better, you're sadly mistaken. He would drop payroll in a heartbeat before he ever considered that option.

I'm a Cleveland native, transplanted to SoCal. The tribe looks well-run compared to my local teams (dodgers and angels). The Dodgers were my NL team until Murdoch's storm troopers let Piazza get away; I haven't had any interest in them since. And Disney continues to embarrass the Angels (ah, well... they're just an expansion team, after all).

You may be correct, JB. Are you a yankee fan?

Teach, the Mike Piazza trade was not a catastrophe...they got Gary Sheffield out of it.
Piazza was criticized for his behavior at the end of his last season or two in LA during their playoff games.
I attribute it to Piazza being beaten up by too many nasty foul tips. (I'm serious, he was one beat up ballplayer)
Also, he used to say stupid things "this isn't about money, it's about respect" (which meant the dodgers had disrespected him in contract negotiations by not offering him enough money!)
The Angels are the Indians-lite.
Just always short one good offensive bat, and pitching (we were short the pitching only) and we always have lit up Percival.
I think the Angels could contend and even win their division IF their two starting pitching additions pitch well.
As for Finley, if he is healthy, I expect 15 wins from him...he is extra motivated, I believe he is closing in on 200 wins.
